Drain Doctor North West are currently carrying out repairs to leaking manholes on a new housing development in St Helens.

Drain Doctor North West are working on a project in St Helens to seal leaking manholes on a New Housing Development

We have developed a method of sealing the manholes without the need for excavation on a newly finished housing estate which enables works to be carried out without any desturbance to the new  driveways.

These works have been agreed by both Building Control and the LABC which then enables the developer to offer a 10 year guarantee.

This week this bulletin was issued to all Building contractors

All of United Utilities wastewater assets fall under the ‘Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations’ (DSEAR) and as such all sewers are classed as ‘zone 2’. This means that any CCTV survey equipment used within the sewers needs to be intrinsically safe (Ex rated) as to not cause ignition or spark in a potentially explosive atmosphere.

As the public sewer network is classed as an ‘open network’ substances which have the potential to cause an explosive atmosphere can be introduced into the sewer without the knowledge of United Utilities.

Therefore, we would like to advise you that authorisation to investigate or survey United Utilities assets will not be granted unless the appropriate equipment is used.

Drain Doctor Northwest are happy to confirm that our CCTV Equipment meets these new requirements and we can therefore work within public sewers subject to correct permissions from United Utilities.

Local man finalist for prestigious national award

Kevin Preston, owner of Drain Doctor North West which provides 24 hour emergency plumbing and drainage services is delighted to be a finalist for a national Business to Business award

Kevin born & bred in Blackpool and who lives in Poulton-le-Fylde was shortlisted for the bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year awards 2015. The winners will be announced at a glitzy black tie ceremony hosted by BBC business presenter Steph McGovern on Thursday 1st October, at Birmingham Town Hall.

Drain Doctor in Blackpool was set up by Kevin in 1994 and he has since grown the business, built on excellent service and an impeccable reputation. The company has been a great success, so much so, that with business partners Nick & Lisa Birtles, he now has seven territories servicing the North West of England from Carlisle in Cumbria to Lymm in Cheshire.

Now, his hard work and dedication has been recognised nationally.  Kevin perfectly matches the criteria for the award which states that judges will be looking for a business, which has shown the ability to create great relationships with other local companies delivering a high-quality service, products and savings to their clients.

Being a finalist is no mean feat, as only twenty of the UK’s best entrepreneurs have been shortlisted for the six awards which highlight franchisees that demonstrate a clear focus on customer service and growth.

Kevin commented on being a finalist, “I’m very proud to be a finalist for these awards and to be recognised for the work that we do. Drain Doctor is a well-known and reputable brand and we have invested over the years in new and specialist plant and equipment to enable us to handle the most challenging drainage and plumbing projects. But it isn’t just equipment which has helped grow the business; we have also invested in our people to enable us to give a quality service on time every time. The team is highly trained and all our technicians are fully qualified to industry specification.
